Master of Studies in Law
The legal advantage for non-lawyers, this degree is designed for professionals who do not want to practice law, but who work in jobs where knowledge of the law could be beneficial.
Washington, DC Location
Located four blocks from the White House, across the street from the International Monetary Fund and World Bank, and within walking distance of the U.S. Department of State, federal courts, Big Law on K Street, and nongovernmental agencies, GW Law places students at the center of the most dynamic legal activity in the United States. Our students benefit from contact with practitioners at these nearby institutions.
Integrated Learning
Our MSL program integrates nonlawyers into the classroom with burgeoning professionals in our JD program, some seasoned practitioners enrolled in the LLM programs, and both U.S.-educated and non-U.S. educated students, providing an atmosphere of diverse experience and interchange within the classroom.
World-Renowned Faculty
Our accomplished faculty members are among the most frequently cited and sought-after legal scholars in the nation. As both dedicated scholars and respected practitioners, our faculty brings world-class expertise and professional connections into the classroom. Our adjunct faculty draws from the highest level of government and practice at nearby institutions, such as law firms, federal courts, and the Supreme Court.
Who We Know
With more than 400 on-campus events each year on topics ranging from cybersecurity to international law to financial regulation, GW Law brings notable decisionmakers from around the world into contact with our students. In the past year, we’ve hosted Merck CEO Kenneth Frazier, FCC Commissioner Mignon Clyburn, Senator Rand Paul, and Ambassador of Pakistan to the U.S. Aizaz Ahmad Chaudhry, to name a few.
